Daniel Perez, MD

Neurologist at 12 de Octubre Hospital (Madrid), clinician and researcher (Río Hortega in Neuroimmunology/Neurooncology field). In a research fellow in French Reference Center of Paraneoplastic Neurological Syndromes and Autoimmune Encephalitis.

I am a Spanish neurologist who completed my neurology residency in July 2025 and was awarded a fellowship (Río Hortega grant) in 2026 to continue working at the 12 de Octubre University Hospital in Madrid, alongside Sergio Muñiz Castrillo, an expert in the field of neuro-oncology and neuroimmunology.

Until then, I was accepted by the reference center as a research fellow. I am passionate about the world of autoimmune encephalitis and paraneoplastic syndromes. I have a special interest in paraneoplastic syndromes related to hematological neoplasms, as well as the complications of the treatments used in these (especially CART); I will begin my PhD in this area in the fall of 2025 under the supervision of Dr. Muñiz.

From day one, the entire team in Lyon has been very supportive and welcoming, giving me the opportunity to collect cases of paraneoplastic syndromes in patients with lymphomas under the guidance of Professor Honnorat. In addition, I have had the opportunity to attend hospitalizations and consultations with Professor Honnorat and Dr. Benaiteau, gaining valuable knowledge about these rare diseases, thanks also to the patients' permission to attend and gain experience with their cases.
